Re: August 9, 2001 Much Ado about Nothing
The whole brouhaha about Kevin Reichard astroturfing Linuxtoday is blown way out of proportion. There is a long tradition of publishers writing in to their publications under fictitious names. Back in the 1700s their was a publisher of a newspaper in Philadelpia by the name of Benjamin Franklin. Perhaps you have heard of him. He often sent letters to the editor (himself) about various subjects to create some entertainment value for the newspaper. Some of the names of personalities he assumed were Silence Dogwood, Caelia Shortface, Anthony Afterwit, Alice Addertongue, and Richard Saunders. As you can see, he often spoke under disguise of a woman. And as for Richard Saunders, he even had another publication named after him--Poor Richard's Almanac. I think some people in the Linux community take themselves far too seriously. Lighten up folks. There is enough global warming without penquins farting all over the place.
