In Scripting News, Dave Winer lists this page as one of his favorite weblog sites. Kindly, he lists it among the "Thinkers" pages. Less kindly, he reports that we "can sometimes be pretty clueless." (I'll assume he means we're in the market for clues. Or something like that.)
Xmas treat: The new Joho is out. Among other items it contains this bit of millenial peevery:
If 2,000 means something to you, then I assume you're going to spend it in quiet prayer at your local church. As for me, I'm going to hang out with a bunch of Jews who are wondering why everyone is so excited about the 22nd day of the month of Tevet in the year 5760. (Damn Jews won't let anyone have a good time!)
... to which we might add a joke Doc heard Bette Midler tell at her concert in San Jose last week: Since the Jewish calendar started a thousand years before the Chinese calendar, that means the Jews went a whole millenium with no place to eat on Sunday nights.
So there you go, Dave. Three paragraphs without one damn clue (or maybe three and a half).
Dig it: The Cluetrain Manifesto is tops on Amazon's list of "business books to look forward to in the new year."
Gonzo buzz: Nice interview at guru.com with Cluetrain co-author Christopher Locke.
Excerpt: ...when you look at my resume, you'd think I worked for Manpower. My career has been a patchwork quilt. I've never had a job for longer than two years -- ever. I've learned that there's a lot you can do if you follow your passion, and give yourself permission to be interested in anything and speak about it. Just try to speak intelligently.
