Re: Wanted: Local Public Radio
WTOP (commercial station) in Washington, DC is pretty close. They are a 24 hour news station with in-depth local news and “traffic and weather on the 8’s.” Traffic reports are very interactive, listeners call in situations and it gets broadcast quickly. It is not unusual for a driver to find out about a situation and take an alternate route before they get to the backup (or find out all alternate routes are jammed).
WNCW (public radio) in North Carolina has it right with local and regional music. Every DJ has their own flavor and style. It is not unusual for a band to drop off a disc to the station and ask them to paly a couple tracks.
