| | I just met Andrew Turner, whose blog is High Earth Orbit. He's an even bigger geo-freak than I am. Which is a good thing, because he's a lot more technical, too. He's been schooling me (and the rest of a small gathered crowd) on enough cool stuff to overload all our brains. Looking forward to his talk tomorrow at Guadec. |

| | Today is my father's 99th birthday. He's been gone thirty years, which is as long as I knew him when he was alive. Yet I still remember him like he was here yesterday. I can still hear his voice. I still feel the urge to share interesting discoveries with him, tell him what I'm doing, ask him what he thinks about this or that. Like today here in Birmingham, in the UK midlands, when the sky turned black and thick rain pounded down, filled with hail the size of marbles, bouncing off the roof below the window of the building where I sat eating a salad. That's the kind of thing Pop would want to hear about, that would remind him of something he'd read, or recalled from an event in his own life. |

Geolocation - wishing for my handy archives of PCForum (have hardcopies, but too hard/lazy to search them - would like searchable archive of presentations)
Anyway - several years back, topic of geo-spatal data, and one presenter on geolocation of documents. ID the document, and know what desk it was on... I think the technology slipped into Pentagon type stuff
also: I follow Jeff Jonas - there could be some interesting merging of ideas
