Rogers has it all wrong -- we're building authority every day. For everything. And we can't even escape it...
He's staking his reputation -- his authority -- on calling out Technorati for its bs marketing. Is he right? About that, sure -- but that's about it. From where I stand, VRM is *about* these kinds of assertions...the kind that lead to reputation.
Of course, VRM itself is probably a little ahead of it's time -- what we've needed for a long time now is an open reputation system. And now that identity's figured out, it'd be damn easy -- as simple as a microformat. Reputation is *the* main pillar of VRM; authority is what we make of these tangled loops -- and Rogers should know better.
