Re: Wednesday, June 20, 2007
Sometimes it just kills me when you write something that comes right out of my heart.
In December of 2004 I wrote a blog post which launched me on an obsessive quest that has been with me every day since. You will notice a single trackback on the original post -- it's from Adriana. It was that little bit of encouragement that got me started. I call her the unwitting godmother of MyMindshare. Here's the url to that post:

At MyMindshare, I just added a new feature, "Request for Bids" where people can post there wants/needs and give mindshare bidders (advertisers) an opportunity to meet that want/need.
Ratings and comments are also an important part of MyMindshare, enabling a conversation between bidders and ... er ... biddees?
Everyone is in control of what is important to them -- people are in control of their mindshare, and bidders are in control of their budget.
Fundamentally, at the core of MyMindshare is respect. It can only work when people respect each other enough to be honest. On one side, people have to be honest about their wants/needs/interests. On the other side, people have to be honest about what they are offering and not try to get something for nothing.
I hope you don't see this as just another scheme to make money on the internet. It's not. It's my attempt to fundamentally alter the relationship between consumer and advertiser. Actually, it brings consumer and advertiser into relationship where there is currently no relationship. Yes, it's conversation.
