Re: Friday, June 15, 2007 - Fatlining.
Doc,
When you said:
"I don't intend to stay on it forever — just down to somewhere in the 155-165 range. Then I plan to stay there."
Please recognize this as a setup for failure. Going on a diet (any certain diet) just to loose weight and then going off it is a common route to failure - as you admit you've already experienced.
Choose a healthy diet that will automatically bring your weight down - this same diet is your maintenance diet.
No right answer for everyone - but your statement above mirrors a million folks that constantly yoyo up and down.
I genuinely wish you the best of luck with your weight goal.
(Personally I neither endorse nor abhor the Adkins diet - though I agree that limiting carbs - especially refined ones is a grand idea. I try to focus on good foods regardless of other gross measures like calories or fat. The best way to choose good food in my opinion is to eat things with an ingredient list of 1 - 'avocado' or 'beef' or 'broccoli'. If it comes in a box with an ingredient list a mile long, feed it to the effing dog!).
