Re: Saturday, June 2, 2007
Thanks.
Actually, I'm having the time of my life. I'm having more fun doing more good stuff that (I trust) is doing good in the world, than ever before.
I'm also more relaxed while I'm doing it. Long gone are the 18-hour days stressing out trying to make a company grow and run. Been there, done that, got a pile of t-shirts (mostly for a guy who weighed 40 pouns less than I do now). I'm seriously dieting and getting into shape (without stressing about it). I love what I'm doing and the people I'm doing it with. Life at home is good, especially when it's on the road with me (as it is right now, here in Boston, where I had a great time with The Kid in the Aquarium and the Children's Museum today).
The almost embarrasing fact of my life is that where I live (Santa Barbara) is a great place to be on vacation while also working full time. In the middle of the day I can pour myself that iced tea, sit outside and watch the clouds go by, if I like. But most of the time if I do that I'll probably also be either hanging with family and friends or on the phone talking about Something That Matters.
Life is good. But almost 60 years of it have gone by, and I have to also face the fact that my body's systems will be breaking down. Hearing is already getting bad, and now eyesight seems to be following. Not fun, but not death, either. Nothing to keep me from pressing on.
Until the Big Guy says "done". Hope he (or she) waits awhile.
