Re: Sunday, May 6, 2007
Thanks for this posting. It acknowledges the incredible responsibility News organizations have as chroniclers of our age. It has been suggested that the victors get to rewrite history to their liking. By having access to the history of the day we can better temper our opinions and conclusions. I would like to see all News organizations open their archives.
Aside: I am just a hack, a two-bit roust-about sort of blogger. So when I did the ever popular vanity search through the Time Archive I had no expectation of a 'hit' for myself. Instead I was blessed with new found insights into my grand and great-grand parents. Most specifically Mrs. William B. Meloney (Marie Mattingly Meloney). Only a few of her exploits and accomplishments were ever 'handed down' to me - so being able to read of them in the press of the time is almost overwhelming.
Thanks again...
