FWIW, I think Jakob is confusing PDF the file format (or protocol, if you prefer to compare it with HTML) vs. the Acrobat browser plugin. Very little of the things that Jakob complains about are related to the PDF file format. Also, his complaint about the plugin crashing are semi-bogus. Last I heard, browsers were known to crash even when no plugins are involved.
