How much bigger is Botslavia than W's ass?
| | Interesting how the CIA describes the sizes of countries. |
I need to ask how many years will pass before we are each our own cells.
| | I'm on the phone in a conference call with Martin Cooper, the CEO of Arraycomm (a company I'm consulting). Marty is the guy who's widely credited with inventing the mobile phone when he was at Motorola. Right now he's talking about Cooper's Law, which says spectral efficiency doubles every 2.5 years. So if we go back to Marconi's first transmission, which radiated essentially the way as lightning, the number of simultaneous transmissions possible in the world was one. Today it's one trillion. Nearly all the improvements, he says, are geographical. More stuff gets done locally. Then more locally after that. |
| | This is pretty cool. I'm the only one in this meeting who isn't really at the meeting, and also the only one who's both on the web (and doing research in real time) and writing about it. It's related to Technography, I think. |
| | By the way, I just figured that there are 6714 simultaneous conversations per square kilometer going on in the world. |
Just when you thought it was safe to stay away from Wall Street
Don't click here
| | Just the name Smart Tags makes me want to avoid them. |
| | The only improvement I ever wanted to Excel was the ability to write in a cell. As for the rest of it, take me back to 1994. Same with Word, PowerPoint (thanks, *finally* for automatic numbering of bullets) and the rest of the over-suitened gilding that now crusts over everything in Office. |
Rock rolls
| | Been hearing from friends in L.A. that there is much hand-wringing around the decision by Clear Channel (which owns so much of the radio dials that they should change their name to SCAN) to kill off WorldClassRock.com. Typical, of course. That's why we keep harping on it. |
