Getting out from here
| | Whew. Getting to Logan this morning was even more complicated than usual. Navigating from Storrow Drive to the Calahan Tunnel (aka William F. McClellan Highway, aka 1A North, marked variously as one, the other or neither of those, nor the Calahan Tunnel) is always an iffy thing in any case. This morning, as often happens, the underground highway was coned off, and traffic shunted to a choice of two downtown areas, and no clues toward finding the airport. |
| | Fortunately, sort of, Budget provided a GPS, but it was thoroughly confused. Eventually I found my way on and off 93 North, back south on Washington, and eventually to the tunnel and the airport, where the GPS thanked me for arriving at Budget at least three turns before I actually did. Now I'm out amongst the gates, finally, after several tries at different locations, leveraging a rare working MassPort wi-fi access point. What a flaky system. |
| | Anyway, I board now for flights to San Francisco then Santa Barbara. See ya on the West Side. |
| | [Not much later...] I'm on board the plane, connecting by EvDO. (The MassPort wi-fi signal here is strong, but the connection, typically, doesn't work.) Strange... this is the most empty flight I've seen since planes started flying again after 9/11. I'm guessing there are 30 passengers on a plane that holds 150 or more. It was a snap getting an upgrade to business class, which is way cool. I'm in seat 3D, with a nice clean window and the best vantage for aerial photography that I've had in months. All I need now is for the weather to cooperate. Looks like it might. |
| | [Later...] Arrived early in SFO, and the flight out to SBA is delayed. Meanwhile, lots of fires to tend online and on the phone. Then Easter Stuff when I get down to SB and back with the family. |
