I can't help it. I'm addicted to the topic.
| | Here's PenguinPPC guys on Apple's allegedly not-quite open source strategy. Bottom line: You cannot build Darwin with the source Apple provides. |
Fuck moo
| | Consider, for example, ICTV, a Silicon Valley company that makes software for digital set-top boxes. In courting cable company customers, ICTV enticingly extends the walled garden metaphor to include "walled jungles" and "fenced prairies." These virtual gated communities, it unabashedly states, will reach "beyond a proprietary network to content partners on the Web, while circumscribing access to a defined range of approved Web pages." |
| | Let's remember that the term "branding" came to marketing from the cattle business. And that the Net these creeps want to fence isn't populated with Guernseys. On this range, we're all Davids. |
Today's Word is @#$%^&*
| | I don't know why, but my copy of Microsoft Word no longer wants to save. If it does save, it wants to say it is saving something called "Document..." (Document1, Document2...) a file that cannot subsequently be found. At all. |
| | It is almost 2am. I am almost done with the third complete rewrite of a piece I had to submit in Word format yesterday. I am writing it in WriteNow, an ancient and wonderful program (144k) that was an early victim of the Word bloatonaunt. Then I'll save it in .rtf so I can open and save it in Word for Windows. |
| | Anyway, if anybody can guess what's wrong with my Mac version of Word (which comes with Office 2001, lemme know. |
