Re: Tuesday, March 6, 2007
I think we're all figuring this thing out right now, whatever it will end up being, which I'm guessing is a combination of new stuff and MSM outlets that have figured out how to live symbiotically in a larger ecosystem.
More specifically, it would be nice if the newspapers and the TV stations paid bloggers as stringers. But the market for that hasn't emerged yet.
Meanwhile, I don't have a problem if they use my stuff, as long as some credit is given. Newspapers and local TV stations are struggling mightily right now, and need all the help they can get. Is KFTY getting rich these days? I kinda doubt it. How rich can a non-network UHF TV station in Santa Rosa get? Also, the Cult of Ownership is already too crazed in this country. That's how the RIAA is killing Internet radio. And themselves with it.
I used to have a public domain dedication on this blog because I like to make what I write and post here as useful as possible. I changed it to a slightly more restrictive license, just to discourage spammers harvesting my "content". No that it's made much difference.
Anyway, we're looking for sympbiosis here.
