Re: oPhone
Hi Doc,
Does the oPhone idea include freedom from contracts?
My cell phone experience is in Europe and Asia, where you slap your prepaid sim card into any phone you care to buy and then only pay when you use the phone. Topping up the sim card is a simple matter requiring five minutes at an atm or a phone kiosk. Want a new phone? Buy it, take your sim card out of the old phone, put it into your new phone, and you're off, with all your contacts as before.
Result? Everyone over the age of 12 has a cell phone.
The North American phone companies are worse than the record companies in this regard, clutching onto their controls and missing the opportunity to sell phones and services to millions of people who at the moment are not their customers. Is 'stupid' too harsh?
