ReLAXing Encounter
| | We got to LAX early, so we just did something we've wanted to do for a long time: had lunch at the flying saucer place inside the spacey spidery-looking thing in the middle of LAX. It's called the Encounter Restaurant, and it's a fun place. Kind of a Jetsons-meets-tiki bar theme. Fat boomerang and ovoid follicles in the ceiling. Walls of wavy bubbles embossed into plaster with irridescent pastel coloring. Spindly-leg fifties kitchenette seats. Rugs are a mix of eighties teal & violet and seventies mustard and olive in broad loopy shapes. Food is C+, service is good, seating is abundant: all near or smack by the windows, whcih angle down vertiginously over the open space below. Reminds me of the Space Needle in Seattle, only bigger and shorter. Where the Needle feels cramped, the Encounter feels spacious. |
| | And it has free wi-fi. Sweet. |
| | Woops: wi-fi crapped out. On EvDO now. |
| | Unusually clear day here today, by the way. You can even see the mountains. |
On the sky again
| | Heading for Utah to go skiing with the family before driving down to CES in Las Vegas on Sunday. So expect light blogging. |
| | Autonet. ...we decided to turn the car into a Wi-Fi hotspot. |
