Can the Nokia E62 do GPS?
| | While I'm waiting for the N95, and looking at the E62 (best of the available alternatives, Those In The Know tell me), I'm wondering if one of the key features of the N95 GPS is available somehow with the E62. Says here it is. (What is happening with links there, which look like they're going one place but go to another?) But I see nothing but a press release in the Cingular pages. |
| | Meanwhile, here's a message to all the gear makers: Provide open cell phones that let us add what we need. You know, like what made the PC such a success in the first place. Let us do the partnering between you and the cell carriers. Differentiate on quality and features, sure; but please stop building silos with the carriers. Customers hate being locked into anybody's silo. |
| | Place your bets on customer freedom and independence. That's the winning value proposition. |
Living end
| | The latest last Gillmor Gang was one of the best. We recorded it yesterday. The retrospectives (givings of thanks) by each of the present members (we're never all there, it seems) was often moving. Anyway, Steve says there's a bootleg out there. (Wasn't me.) Watch (and listen) for it sometime this weekend. |
Happy Alice Day
| | By tradition, radio stations across the country will be playing Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant today. One channel on Sirius will play it over and over, continuously. |
Continued 'training

Hey Doc!
The E62 doesn't have builtin GPS, but can connect to any $50 bluetooth GPS (size of a box of matches). Highly recommended, probably the best phone for your usage pattern, thanks to keyboard and WiFi. Google Mail, Google Chat etc. all work nicely.
Go to http://darlamack.blogs.com/ to get more background on this, tell her I sent you ;) Darla is the Queen of Nokia in the US.
Btw., open Nokia E61 are around $300 in eBay germany, should work nicely in the US. Let me know if you need any help on this.
Gillmor Gang: a very emotional one - I absolutely loved Jason's statement. Let's hope Steve gets over his issues in the near future. There will be an Identity Gang @ New Years, right...?
Speaking of identity: shouldn't you allow for InfoCard logins for your comments? ;)
Rock on!

Farber just reviewed the E61 on Interesting People; check it out. I don't know why you would consider the crippled E62 instead.

Thanks for the heads-up.
Consider me re-considering.
