I'm just catching up after a long week off and saw your RIP post about the Nikon. I just bought the Canon S3 with 12x zoom and am loving it as the second camera to my Nikon D70. It ran about $350, but has a lot of flexibility, a very nice lens, a little bit of noise that I could do without, but is a great lightweight camera for all-the-time carrying. Unlike Thomas Hawk, I just can't haul the D70 and lenses everywhere, so this is a nice substitute for those times. It's a 5MP camera which is plenty for times when you want to capture something like those amazing sunsets/sunrises but don't have the tripod and heavy-lifter camera. Highly recommended.
