Stay away from the Nikon 8800 I have one which died after 18 months with a system error 2 it was a good camera, quite good but with many reports of system error 2, I'd be wary and the repair is $350cdn plus tax I use a Nikon D70 SLR for serious stuff and recently got a Kodak v610 which is a shirt pocket sized 10x zoom. It also takes a mean video. Yes, it is a kodak but is a worthy competitor in the pocket sized space.
