Lakoff and the French

I believe Emil Sotirov has Lakoff placed in the wrong context. His work has pretty much nothing to do with European post-structuralist theory. Those guys work out of an entirely different tradition, which typically goes through Hegel, Marx, Nietzsche, and Freud; the only point of contact might be linguistics, but even there, Lakoff's background is Chomsky, not the Europeans (I don't recall whether he refers to Saussure at all). Lakoff, as you know, focuses on metaphor and categories and centers his work in cognitive science.
This is the sort of thing about which one can go on and on, but I won't in the name of mercy.
