Day Fire in the Evening 
| | Been at the beach much of today, for the annual sand castle festival. After heading over to the school for a potluck and back, we were struck by the river of smoke coming south and west from beyond the ridge of the Santa Ynez mountains. |
| | This was, and still is the Day Fire, now twelve days old and past 30,000 acres, yet still only 30% contained, in the Los Padres National Forest in Northern Ventura County. |

So if this is evening, your shadow points ... East I gather...so the water on the right is to your South? Must be some curve of the beach I guess...
