But I contradict myself
| | I want a t-shirt that just says "Oxy". |
LossOfFaceBook?
| | While I've been heads-down and off-Net in meetings, readers have been banging on my e-door with news that something-or-other has gone viral around FaceBook. |
| | In my experience when users are passionate about a service, they often react negatively to new stuff. Facebook is changing the experience in a significant way by surfacing in a very efficient (but also very public) way the data that is already in the system. |
| | Users will have to react to this. They'll have to think more about their privacy options. Or just get used to it. Because this is what the power of feeds and social networks is all about. This is the future. |
| | Question: Must all our social networks be hosted by silos like FaceBook? These things aren't democracies, they're monarchies. They're contained habitats. Cruise ships. |
| | The answer is still yes, as long as we don't have a real commons. We don't have one yet. And we won't until we make one for all of us, out here in the wide open spaces. |

About 100 miles from Santa Barbara, in the little town-within-the-city known as Eagle Rock (about 5 miles from the Rose Bowl), lies Occidental College. Go to the campus store there. I'm sure that you can find all of the "Oxy" t-shirts (as well as baseball caps, lingerie, and diaper covers) that you could possibly ever want!
Hope this helps ;-)
(From someone who went to high school just over the hill from Oxy, many many moons ago...)

You could always design your own "Oxy" shirt with those HP iron-ons for ink jet printers they sell at Walmart. Considering the word hacks common to GNU and Open Source, you could put a photo of RMS next to an OXY caption: "OXY eXcludes You." OXY could be the name for the next distribution of Linux. (Speaking of HP and morons, what the hell kind of police state Board of Directors is running number 11 on the Fortune 500?)
I noticed that your travel map excludes Kentucky. If you (and your wife) care to visit Marg and I outside of Nashville anytime you can fit it into your global travel schedule, we'll take you to see Mamoth Cave, or if you time it right, the Kentucky Derby. I'll even buy the mint julips. You'd look good in a top hat and tails.
