Re: Sunday, August 20, 2006
Hi Doc,
I find the whole "gatekeeping" conversation tiresome. From way out here, past letter G, where I stand, every post about it I read smacks whining, whinging, or dealing from deprivation. Poor things. What I don't see is the folks who complain about gatekeepers being overly generous in sharing their own links -- they seem to do what they complain of actually.
The topic itself is bloggers blogging for bloggers about blogging egos. How boring. Haven't they read any attention marketing? No one cares. What do I get from reading that stuff?
Your posts are covered with links every day. I'm nowhere near the Alphabet letter that the folks who complain are, but I've been linked by you (once with a smile and once with a frown[grin]) and by other A-Listers. I appreciate those links, and I also appreciate the links from the folks who are just starting out.
At the end of the day, the result is that I still have to write for a living -- links notwithstanding. I haven't found the link that will pay for my son's college education.
Whatever happened to generosity of spirit, intellectual exchange, and caring more about content? Who put quarter in them anyway? Where is the off button?
Dear Gatekeeper, let's pretend you could be one . . . or would want to. HA! Would you put up sign that says, "Yelling at this gate won't make it open. Ssshhhh. The G-Z listers are trying to have a conversation. Please read Stephen Covey and get a new paradigm."
You can put my name on it, if you think it needs signing.
