Another boneyard story.
The famous asteroid impact that killed off the dinosaurs (and most life as it was known through the Cretaceous, which ended abruptly at that moment) had the bad luck to occur where there was ample limestone, and probably lots of trapped methane: both themselves products of countless dead animals and plants. Here's one account. There are, of course, many others.
