Re: Monday, June 19, 2006
Hey, Doc; Shelly Lowenkopf here in Santa Barbara. Among other things I do, teaching at Antioch University here (De la Guerra and Garden Sts)is one. My courses are in large measure of the creative, fictional sort. Every november for the past few years, we've had a day-long writers' conference here. Being connected with it, I'm authorized to invite you to give a keynote speech on Saturday, October 28, 2006, for which there will be some pay and even more important, a chance for you to address the topic of blog and Internet use to a group of fiction and memoir writers, a nice and potentially influential group of individuals from about age 20 through the 60's, 70's, and beyond. Many will have no real sense of what blogging is, but will jump on what you say because it is, after all, about being heard, finding ways of expression, and joining with others of similar and completely differing visions.
The keynote speech should run between forty and fifty minutes, would undoubtedly have some Q and A, and then you'd have the choice of hanging out or making your way elsewhere.
I can be reached at shelly-lowenkopf@cox.net, where I will hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Shelly Lowenkopf
