BayPIG
| | Had a fun time on the last trip to the Bay Area digging KPIG at 1510 on the AM band. The station radiates from a 4-tower rig atop a warehouse in downtown Oakland, in a tight pattern that blasts mostly westward toward San Francisco and the Peninsula. The station is this big by day, with 8000 watts, and this big by night, with 230 watts. |
Death Star. Literally.
Where in the world, cont'd...
| | I don't think Dave has said where his latest title picture was shot. I tought at first it was 101 in the Salinas Valley (which he's run with before, I think). My guess is 52 heading east toward Placerville from Sacramento. |
| | Woops. I was off by about a thousand miles. |
Cure for cuteness
| | Feature. There's an absence of a flower in the bugvase, because it would just get sucked out of the engine. |
All the blog that's fit to hear
| | I've been on podcast recordings (or prepping for them) pretty much all day. Earlier today it was the Gillmor Gang and right now (as I blog) it's Dean Landsman with George Sessum. The subject is music and it's freaking outstanding. (No 'fence to Dean but) George especially. He knows his shit, he's been around, he's articulate and smart and warm and has a voice that's no less an instrument than any he plays. One of my regrets from SXSW was that I didn't get to spend more time talking with George. But Dean is facilitating that, very nicely, today. Can't wait to link to this one. |
| | And while we're on the music subject, I just looked up Winslow Stillman, who I haven't seen since he wrote and produced the long-forgotten "Livin' It Up Down East" (about Eastern North Carolina), and found he's back in Raleigh. Last I'd heard, he was in Nashville. |
