Mash on
| | The next Mashup Camp is here at the Computer History Museum (as was the first one), on 12-13 July. Already 500 people have signed up. |
Source of sources
Can we show both in their silos?
Yeast confection
| | Good debate: Richard Bennett and anybody lobbying for Net Neutrality law. Which I'm not necessarily for, by the way. (The law, that is. The concept is fine.) Like Richard and Kevin Drum, I have a concern about unintended consequences. |
| | I think what we need is more competition for the carriers both from each other (give the phone guys the right to carry video), and from new players in the Net infrastructure build-out game. |
Disintermediarying
| | Dave: Needless to say I won't be booking any more trips with Hotwire or Sheraton. |
| | I'm staying in Ramada Inn in the same area for $65/night, with free wi-fi. The price is for repeat customers. It's still cheap even without the discount. Some rooms smell a bit of Lysol (source of That Motel Smell), but on the whole they're not bad. And a helluva deal considering how much most hotels cost in the area. |
| | I've used HotWire a couple times in the past, and haven't been disappointed. But I don't like not knowing which hotel I'll be staying at until after the deal is done. (Is it still that way? Think so.) That's why I usually book through ITN (entering via United's site so I get miles), or Orbitz (which now lets you look for hotels with high speed Internet service). |

| | Bonus casts: Steve's My Own DRM (Part I, Part II, Part III), a flashback to a long conversation we had last summer. |
