I remain astonished at what religion and nationalism and other sources of fervor will drive people to do. Sending one's children away to be exploded is beyond imagining for me, yet clearly it is something some people do. And some regimes embrace. And some leaders excuse. As for what to do, I don't know. The whole thing depresses the hell out of me.
