Out of doors
| | Okay, I have a few minutes. |
| | I should have put Mike Warot first, because I saw this post first, in my aggregator, yesterday; but for some reason I couldn't get his blog to come up (lousy connection at LAX, probably... I spent most of yesterday in airplanes or airports). It does now, and I thank Mike for joining Dave as one of the few bloggers I've read who seems to be in general agreement with what I've been trying to say. Most of the rest seem to be going the other way. |
Off and on ice
| | Mary Lu Wehmeier, an early (circa 2000) blogger and skating authority, reports on the Winter Olympics. Here's her latest on Michelle Kwan. In this day and age of "prima donna" athletes, every athlete professional or amateur should be forced to watch how she conducted herself and model themselves after Michelle. |

Just a note to give an "amen" to Shelley's statement, "Doc is also willing to link to those who criticize him, and patiently respond to same."
Doc has patiently responded to my comments criticizing him, and nobody could be more z-list than I. I don't even have a blog, just enjoy surfing the net for a fresher look at the world than I can get from other media. I am not a techie so I skip over the majority of Doc's and other A-listers' discussions but find the photos, personal anecdotes, and other topics of general interest to be worth my time (which admittedly is cheap, since I'm retired). Perhaps I'm a bit star-struck but I greatly enjoy being able to respond to bloggers like him and Joho http://www.hyperorg.com/blogger/ and have them reply to me.
If they and other "gatekeepers" occasionally get carried away with their own importance, perhaps they have earned that right by providing consistently significant content and links. But I personally have not found these two to be guilty of that -- quite the opposite.
