Re: WDNC - if you did oldies you must have known John Swain
I was there briefly in 1974, and went to WDBS from there. Then on to an advertising career with an agency I co-founded (Hodskins Simone & Searls) in Durham that moved to Raleigh and then to Palo Alto on the West Coast (1985-6). We worked with a lot of stations, but especially WQDR and WPTF.
I remember Swain and the oldies show, which was sometimes (mostly) hosted by Jim Davis, a friend I've lost track of. Jim was a first-rate geek, an the chief engineer of many small radio stations around the Triangle.
