Hosed
If a child were born in this room right now, its Indian name would be Place Where Nothing Works.
Except for bandwidth. I have that now.I am drinking bits from the proverbial fire hose. But bandwidth is about all that functions.
During the ten minutes my main box worked, Live365 checked and told me the connection was indeed a T1. I pulled down a couple Napster tunes at 125kbps+, then listened to KPIG's 128kbps steam, and it sounded awesome. Then that machine blew up. Then the laptop (which I'm using now) got twitchy. It can't see CD ROMs and the firewire card/drive is Certain Death if I try to make them work. The Linux box is still awaiting a real tech to make it function. The borrowed Apple G4 with OS X beta isn't worth much until the real OS X comes in next week.
Meanwhile, work piles up. Arg.
We drive back to NorCal tomorrow so I can give a talk on Sunday, then we put the house on the market. I'll point to it when it's up. We are now Santa Barbarians.
