You aren't the only one who's had that conversation between the cable company (mine is Adelphia) and Verizon. Only difference is I can't get a static IP here in Diamond Bar with Adelphia-- yet. Or so they keep telling me.
While Verizon's telling us they've got great customer service, I feel for the poor people in sales because don't know squat when confronted with a knowledgeable net users. Everytime I ask a technical question I get the official, "I don't have that information. You need to speak to technical support." I've tried several times,and never got a call back with someone who actually knows anything.
