Re: Silo Hell
Are you saying that's Quest's deal?
Yes. My bill calls it "DSL Premier (up to 7M/up to 896k)". I opted to use "Qwest.net basic" as my ISP, rather than MSN, which saves around $10-$20/month at the expense of a few email addresses that I wouldn't use anyway.
The line costs $38.00 and the ISP service is $9.99.
The odd thing is that they don't advertise the 7M connection on their site anywhere, but when I called to order I was given the choice of 1.5M, 5M or 7M.
What kind of actual speeds are you getting. Test them out at Broadband Reports. I'll be curious to know if they match their claims.
I'm not at home right now, but I can confirm that I have sustained speeds of over 800k/sec down and over 80k/sec up, which matches their claims. I am only a block from the switching equipment, though.
I'll run the broadband reports test tonight.
