Doc, I would have to say William Lind. He's very conservative on many issues, but he has very clear exposition of fourth generation warfare principles, and has been a scathing critic of this administration's approach. If you haven't read any of John Boyd's work, do. Perhaps among the Democrats, Gary Hart. But you recognize something that's very important - this isn't a traditional Left/Right issue. If my reading of John Robb is correct, we're dealing with an extraordinary intersection between globalized (networked, open source) and traditional (tribalist, bazaar) cultures. The only way, then, that we can analyze and understand what's happening is through an open-source market. I suspect that's what you're sensing.
