Same here
'98-99 remodel, they were required by "code" to be in all rooms, hallways, crawlspace under house ( no basement as such here )
My solution - remove
Seems that, when wired, they act like babies in a hospital nursery, if one is unhappy, all chirp.
Hours of trying to find teh "unhappy" one
Remove All
Then they started "chirping" in the closet where I'd put them
Remove batteries, same ( some residual charge somewhere )
Then hit resets - ah ... relief
Now they are in a box in the garage, removed from house
But ... here's a business
Cheap covers for the resulting housings and wires
