Credobility
Just found Sterling Newberry's Credo. Excellent list. Samples:
56 — I Believe that war is the great purpose of the state.
54 — I Believe that converting the energy system is the over-riding purpose of our generation and that lack of investment supply the source of our current economic difficulties.
63 — I Believe that blogging is the rock and roll of this decade: the place of energy and expression.
37 — I Believe that xaos is to the present what Newton's Calculus was to the Enlightenment. (xaos? Have to look that one up. -ds)
35 — I Believe in open government, openly arrived at.
7 — I Believe in the sacred duty of all Americans to protect and defend the Constitution, most particularly when it is not to our immediate economic advantage.
1 — I believe that all that can truly be called knowledge is open source.
I've always loved reading, and listening, to Stirling. Which is why I support ...
22 — I Believe my time will come.

ActuallyOn
I'm at the AlwaysOn Summit (another link) where there is also a live webcast. It's at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center at Stanford, but I forgot all but the Arrillaga part of that when I drove over here. Signage pointed to the Arrillaga Sports Center, which seemed credible since it's Summer, and I figured maybe there would be room there. But I was wrong. Lacking a map, I called Marc Canter, who couldn't make it tonight, but has a lot to talk about for the rest of the show.
I wanted to catch Peter Hirshberg's opening talk and videos, and thought I got there too late; but he had just started talking, so I barged in without a badge or anything. (I'm still a kid about digging that shit.) The room is way too hot, but I'm sure they'll figure out how to get some AC going soon. It's SRO, which in my case is sitting, on the cold floor, which helps relieve the heat. Ass conditioning.
Hey, nice to see Rackspace listed as an 100 winner. They host Searls.com, among a zillion other sites. Among other things. Their distinguishing characteristic is obsessively good customer service. Can't say enough good stuff about them.

Cooking with 'casts
Steve Gillmor releases Gillmor Gang Raw. No steenkin¹ topic and zero preparation.

Bigger picture
Chris Nolan reframes framing. I worry about this vogue for emphasizing word over deeds and description over action.

We don't need no steenkin' ratings
Time for Dick Gordon to start podcasting.

At last
Sheila Lennon has started doing her outstanding blog with real blog software (she hacked files in HTML before), at a new, shorter URL, comments and a working RSS feed. Transition in progress.

Score:5, blog-provoking
Glen Martin on aggregators as DIY magazines. One short snippet of a much longer piece:
DIY magazines are our own filters of what content to even become aware of. This can increase the divide between different ideological groups as those groups only read those who think as they do and fail to pull any balancing points of view into their own magazine. Rather than finding common ground, they propel their opinions to extremes by never reading contrary voices. Little groups become their own apparent majorities (at least to themselves) as "everyone says" whatever they want to hear.

Podato
Mary Hodder has already mashed up my fist podcast with a video interview she recorded on the street in Berkeley last night.

Speaking of space
I'm writing this from a non-technical friend's house where the wi-fi coverage (from a neighbor unknown) is marginal at best. After failing (I thought) to post Names in Space over at IT Garage (it said warning: Unknown modifier '.' in /srv/http/www.itgarage.com/modules/ etc on line 1062., among other things), I posted it here, then discovered it was over at the other place after all, so I got rid of it here. In case anybody is wondering.
Anyway, it took way more time than I wanted it to. But I think the subject is an interesting one of some importance. So go over there and check it out.

Technorati just made the AO 100. That's great!
