More to talk about
Mild blue yonder
| | Flew up to the Bay Area for meetings today. Back home tonight. Except for a Gillmor Gang call, I'll be in them all day. Expect light blogging. |
Dept. of Corrections
| | A couple days ago I called Google a "Windows company" for putting out a growing number of Windows-only client apps. Some feedback suggests I was saying Google is "bad for Linux." I certainly didn't mean that, but I can see how one would get that impression (especially if one works on Linux at Google). In fact Google and its employees are among the foremost contributors to Linux and open source development. |
| | And, to be fair, apps like Picasa came from acquired companies, and one shouldn't expect them to become cross-platform overnight. |
| | That said, I still think Google should commit publicly to making its client apps cross-platform, and that includes Linux, not just OS X. A tall order, but it's a tall company. |
