I spent a few precious minutes tracking down David Rogers' comments on his site about the whole mediated/unmediated issue, and after a while I just got tired of his cranky tone of voice (do you have a tone of voice when you're writing?). At some point I lost interest not because of his argument or his medium, but because his cranky, unpleasant manner overshadows the point he's trying to make. I have the same problem with TV shows that feature political pundits yelling at each other. I'm sure there's an audience for this sort of "debate", but I'm not part of that audience.
