Hot and cold? Familiar story. I occasionally get four bar signals with a Kensington WiFi finder and cannot get on the networks it finds. I can see but not access EsatBT hotspots that I have paid to use with neither my Nokia 9500 nor my Sony Clie but I can log onto those hotspots with either a Mac or Windows laptop. So there are WiFi installations that you can see but not use, even though you can see high signal strength from them.
