Doc, You may be interested in Steve Outing's views from the Poynter Institute about paid content on Newspaper websites. Outing has also blogged extensively on the topic of newspapers' blogs and you can see his list of articles here. Amy Gahran has blogged about the onerous problem of registering at newspaper sites and has included a reference to the BugMeNot website which provides usernames and passwords for entry to such sites. Including the Ventura County Star. Ms. Gahran sets off a minor debate about the ethics of using the BugMeNot facility. My blog posts about similar problems are here, here, and here.
