Re: Thursday, March 17, 2005
thanks for the feedback.
we have tried to improve our website to address your valid concerns:
- requirements are now more visible
- why is an account necessary...
Both are addressed in new copy at http://storymill.com/support/questions/
We are also thinking of ways to delay requiring an account until someone actually needs one. (Techno reason: Under the covers, it is simply easier for us to be creating RDF tags (semantic web stuff) from the get-go that are truly unique (as they must be) via a unique user account. We thought about using a local name and making it real when it was necessary...)
I will be interested in your feedback on the tagging aspects. once you get a few hundred or a thousand photos tagged, it really gets fun! You can get a taste of tagging by browsing my India pics on the website (http://storymill.com/mu/jsk/item/tp648). Click on a photo, see the tags below it, and click on some tags to see only photos with those tags. Browsing in a semantic, free-form sort of way...
BTW: I just installed MEPIS, so hopefully, I can test it on Linux before you do <g>.
Having run the developpment team at TogetherSoft for a while, I learned the hard way that Java is not completely WORA... (but, it beats the heck out of C's portability!)
