Re: Wednesday, March 23, 2005
It's a shame that Paul apparently hasn't kept up with his Inconspicuous Consumption schtick. That site hasn't been updated in over three years. I was a huge fan of his fanzine "Beer Frame", which was the original repository of his reviews of everyday consumer products. In fact, I just found my old Beer Frame bowling shirt the other day when I was cleaning out a closet. Reading Beer Frame made it impossible for me to just go to the grocery store; my wife and I to this day nudge each other when we see something worthy of a Paul Lukas review. My mom was a big fan, too.
Several years ago, Paul collected a lot of this stuff in a book, "Inconspicuous Consumption: An Obsessive Look at the Stuff We Take for Granted, from the Everyday to the Obscure". It's long out of print, but you can get a used copy through Amazon or abebooks.com.
