Unprintable

Ride on
| | About BlogMatrix (says here it's "The easy 'one-stop' solution for recording, sharing and listening to podcasts"), Ross Rader says, |
| | This application kicks serious ass. Look out podcasters, this is going to be an interesting ride. |
| | Well, I got some hang time with Ev yesterday, and he showed me some of what they're doing at Odeo, and ... let's just say his nuts are fine. |
| | BlogMatrix apparently runs as a client app only on Windows (the download is a .exe that neither my Linux nor my OS X boxes can make sense of). Odeo is... um... let's just say... broader than that. As for Adam's Podshow, I haven't seen more than the website, and that appears to be broader as well, but in a different way kind of a Live365, without the Live. (And hopefully without the other slow-loading jive.) |
| | In other words, three different offerings, three different categories, three different conversations. |
| | Chill, folks. Markets are public places where makers and vendors offer users and customers lots of choice. Not coliseums where gladiators kick and stab each other to death while the rest of us cheer over bruises and blood. |

Travels
| | In a more perfect, or perverse, world I'd be in many places at once. For example, I'd like to be in the Bay Area this afternoon, where SpikeSource (a company I advise) is having an open house in Redwood City (see the notification, with directions, at that last link plus more here from Glen Martin). But I just got back from eTech, and need to catch a plane to PC Forum at 6am tomorrow, with lots to do in the meantime. |
Badder still

Maybe Evan could explain his product to the podcasting community.
Doc, you're being an insider. I said this to Scoble the other day. You're buying into two-tieredness. Odeo hasn't told the podcasters what he's doing, evidenced by the hostility you saw on Ross Rader's site, this doesn't sit well with the community. The first Odeo-sighting was this hugely arrogant pitch given through John Markoff at the NY Times. Then the pitch at TED, and there weren't even any bloggers there to tell the community what the hell he's talking about. Now at Etech he's got you telling them to chill. Sheez, Doc, when was the last time you read the podcasters list, or gave some money to the iPodder developers. I thought you were Mr Open Fucking Source. Nah, you're one of the insiders.
I gave Scoble shit about this after he sold out to the insiders after going to SXSW. You can make it up to us by spending some serious time with BlogMatrix, and stop handing the market (or trying to) to people who don't have the guts to talk to the community.
And btw, where are Ev's podcasts?
And does he really get it?
I'll let you know when I hear something clueful. So far, haven't.
