Dude: Buy the VW Jetta Wagon
http://www.vwvortex.com/news/index_naias_jettawagon.html You're just in time! It's a bit smaller (like the Subaru), and a bit cheaper than the Passat wagon. VW quality is way up these last few years. I love my 2000 Golf - this wagon looks like the same car but with a bigger back-end.
