Re: Where On Earth 0009
Sounds a lot like marketing hype for MT. It official that we are now moving into the business end of blogging. There is money to be made as big ticket blogging (Fortune 1000 size enterprises) comes on board. These companies will need the enterprise blogging package and consulting to bring these companies into the blogosphere. So, where's there is money to be made, the marketing machines will roll.
Funny, today Rick Bruner questioned the % of Fortune 500 companies using blogs...he thought there were 6 or 7 companies with external facing blogs. Jeremy Wright at Ensight says there are 40 using external and internal. I know of at least 3 more not on the list of 40. So, still less than 10% and they will all get there eventually. To get them there, companies like MT will use the media machine to make there case. I would guess that MT was only too happy to have that bit of free advertising.
The trick will be how many companies are still blogging 3 years from now. Done correctly, a blog strategy is a perfect way to wean the corporate world off of email and help a corp establish the conversation explained in Cluetrain. Done poorly, companies will fail to benefit and move on to the next big thing brought to them courtesy of the marketing machine.
Me, I am a Radio and Manila man. I have worked with Scott Young over the past 6 months and he has a great product and team. I think he needs to get his marketing machine rolling before it's too late.
