Bald-faced fly

The clues for this pic are in the headilne and four posts down. Also one season later. I shot it in May of last year. Note that there's still a little snow at the top of the mountain.

I'm kinda surprised that the idea hasn't had much conversational traction. But then, I think this is one of those things where invention needs to mother the necessity, rather than vice versa.

S'no job

So David Sifry was showing me tricks with tags, when I looked up 1984, got to G-man's Just how do you masturbate with a magazine, which features Prince and Purple Rain (great music, bad acting; but it doesn't matter), noticed the snowcapped mountains in the background of G-man's masthead, checked out Mt. Baldy, saw the conditions appear good (considering that the rain in the lowlands is snow at 7800 feet), and decided to make a one-day ski trip with the kid tomorrow.

[Later...] They just changed the forecast a bit:

Moderating temperatures will change morning snow showers to rain showers by late day. Thunder possible. High around 45F. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 60%.

I hate when it rains on snow. That was the standard winter forecast for New York when I grew up there. Snow mixed with and changing to rain... Still, worth a try if we get going early, I think.

Home! almost! the San Gabriels. Your Mount Baldy clue was just a little too good, there. But then, it's local. I'm trying to think of what the curve in the 210 is. I've driven it, that's for sure....

Thanks, Google Maps. I found it. The airstrip lower left centerish is Cable Airport. UPDATE: Oops. On Google maps, you navigate to the view first, then click the Link For This Page to get the exact view .
