Re: Monday, February 28, 2005 (Here we go again)
On blogs vs the media. I think a better comparison would be old-fashioned telephone 'party lines' vs. radio broadcasting. After all, print is not the only established format that bloggers are intruding on (thinking of podcasting here).
The volume of unflattering comparisons between print journalism and journalistic blogs is perhaps evidence of the unsettlement and apprehension that journalists feel towards this odd behaviour from those who are supposed to be awaiting enlightenment from their betters.
Radio 'talent' is not able to really express it's feelings on the phenomenon (mostly due to the comparitively small number of people who have direct access to the airwaves), and of that small group the majority would be talkshow hosts - none of the other show formats possess space to make their objections known. (But that may change if the use of music in podcasts grows, as the music industry is quite vocal on the subject of 'fair use')
