If it's where I think it is, (the clue was useful in that case), we drove through there back in '87 on the way to see the dead at Telluride. Anyway, the place I'm thinking of is the Leadville area of Colorado, west/southwest of Denver. Runoff from mining (as I recall) contributed to basically creating a colorful deadzone for many many miles. There are responses to this message:
