"Writing a letter to the editor is pathetic, because the writer is always in a position of weakness, relegated to the Letters page." How is that different than comments on a blog? That's one of the bits of the blogging phenomenon that has always bothered me. There is a huge power imbalance in being the blogger, as opposed to the commenter. Granted, it's not as bad as letters to the editor in that there's less of a filter on what gets published, but it certainly feels very assymetric. There are responses to this message:
