Sony, ever the recurring theme. Certainly you noticed that my re-engaged rant about Sony --longwindedely as ever reappearing in Frank's "Why do you blog" post-- which prompted you to prompt me to start my blog, remains as true today as it did then.
They make some great products, but the attitude of "fuck the customer" (after they've bought it) . . . will, eventually, be the downfall of Sony.
As the Retropod story shows, Sony is so tightly wrapped within its sense of being a corporate entity that it misses the boat when it comes to reality. People making mods, be they PCs. iPod cases, whatever, is an extension of the brand, a humanizing and communicative way of expanding concept. So what does Sony do? It immediately reacts with a Cease and Desist.
That's another way of saying: missing the clue.
I believe the engineers at Sony are working on a way of running over the rat while riding a Sony-Audio equipped paint spreader.
